On Friday, July 31st, users noticed that emails were not being received from Talisma campaigns. We worked with the vendor, Campus Management (CMC) to restart their Campaign Dispatcher (which sends emails in batch intervals). This seemed to fix the issue temporarily.
Over the weekend it was reported that none of our emails were being sent. CMC confirmed that their SMTP servers could not connect to the UO SMTP servers. Email is currently not being sent. We are working with the vendor to find a fix as soon as possible.
Services have been stable and available since 8:15am today.
Heavy network traffic from the Internet has been causing intermittent service outages since 6:10am today (7/13/15). During periods of heavy traffic, if you are off-campus, you won’t be able to reach any service at UO. If you are on-campus, you won’t be able to reach websites off-campus, and UO services will be slow or unavailable. Staff are working to block this network traffic.
Network staff are looking into some anomalous traffic that appears to be affecting portions of UOnet. Reports of some resource reachability issues both inside and outside the network.
At approximately 12:15 AM, services related to rhn.uoregon.edu went offline. Staff investigated the issue and were able to restore services at approximately 9 AM.
ArcGIS is currently unavailable to licensed users on campus. Staff are engaged to resolve the issue and restore service.
Staff have completed upgrades and restored network services for the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology (OIMB), Fleet Services Building (OSU Motor Pool), and Pine Mountain Observatory (PMO).
Network and Telecom Services (NTS) is tracking an issue with two of its core routers. These devices provide transport to NTS network management services, some security services, and network transport to the following remote sites:
Oregon Institute of Marine Biology (OIMB)
Fleet Services Building (OSU Motor Pool)
Pine Mountain Observatory (PMO)
NTS is currently in the process of addressing this issue.
Last night starting around 6/24/15 at 10:08pm we experienced a brief outage of many IS provided services. Services were back up by 10:15pm. Staff are investigating the root cause now. Many services were effected including (but not limited to), Blackboard, the UO Homepage, ITHelp, and LDAP (which is the basis for authentication for a large number of services).
