The Duck ID claiming process is working again. It was failing for several hours yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, April 5).

The Duck ID Account Management website (duckid.uoregon.edu) will be unavailable tonight (Wednesday, April 5) starting at 7:30pm while our Duck ID vendor performs urgent maintenance to address several issues. The downtime may last as long as four hours.

Separately, the Duck ID claiming problems that started around midday today (Wednesday, April 5) may be resolving. Since our Duck ID vendor intervened midafternoon, some people have successfully claimed their Duck IDs.

Earlier, people were reporting the following problems:

  • You may get a message saying you don't have two-factor authentication available even though you have a recovery email address on file.
  • You may get past the PIN/two-factor and security questions, but then never receive the popup window for choosing a Duck ID.

The Duck ID claiming process is experiencing an unplanned service outage that began around noon. Many or all UO students and employees are unable to successfully claim their Duck IDs. We've received reports of two different user experiences:

  • You may get a message saying you don't have two-factor authentication available even though you have a recovery email address on file.
  • You may get past the PIN/two-factor and security questions, but then never receive the popup window for choosing a Duck ID.

UO staff are enlisting the help of our Duck ID vendor to restore service.

We're receiving reports of problems with the Duck ID Account Management website (duckid.uoregon.edu). Specifically, some people's sessions are timing out. They have reported the following error messages:

  • "Received a runtime exception []."
  • "Your request did not succeed. Please try again. If this persists, please contact the Duck ID Account Management administrator."

Other people appear to be using the website successfully. UO staff have enlisted the help of our Duck ID vendor to investigate and resolve this partial outage.
