Most of this morning's (Thursday, Sept. 7) problems with VPN have now been resolved. UO staff continue working on a few localized problems. If you're still having problems with VPN and haven't yet submitted a ticket, please do so — at either UO VPN support or specialized VPN support, depending on the problem you're experiencing. Please provide the following information:

  • The profile you're using (UO VPN or one of the specialized profiles).
  • Destination hostname or IP.
  • Service (smb, etc.).

On Thursday, September 7, between 5am and 7am Pacific Time, UO staff will do maintenance on UO VPN that will cause all existing connections to drop. People can simply reconnect to UO VPN after the maintenance. Learn more in Around the O.

A major upgrade to the Cisco AnyConnect software occurred on Thursday, July 13, bringing a new name and logo, and requiring Mac users to remake dock shortcuts. Learn more about the changes in Around the O.

A major upgrade to the Cisco AnyConnect software occurred on Thursday, July 13. The first time you connect to UO VPN via AnyConnect after that date, the software will download and install an update to itself. Please note the following changes:

  • New look and feel. The logo and user interface have been updated.
  • Name change. The software name is changing from "Cisco AnyConnect Security Mobility Client" to "Cisco Secure Client." (It still mentions "AnyConnect" in the main prompt.)
  • Mac dock shortcuts must be remade. This update will break any existing AnyConnect shortcuts in macOS docks. Mac users can create shortcuts to the new Cisco Secure Client by visiting the Cisco folder within the Applications folder, then dragging the new icon into the dock.
