Microsoft Copilot with data protection: Microsoft is working to address a service degradation for Copilot (copilot.microsoft.com). Although Copilot remains functional as a generative AI tool, some UO employees are unable to log in to Copilot, which means they're unable to access the data protections available when logged in. (Those data protections currently aren't available for UO students.) Workaround: UO staff have been able to access Copilot with data protection by accessing it through the Microsoft Edge browser after logging into Edge.

Microsoft Copilot with data protection: Some UO employees are still unable to log in to Copilot (copilot.microsoft.com) on browsers such as Chrome and Firefox. Although Copilot remains functional as a generative AI tool, affected UO faculty and staff members are unable to use those browsers to access the data protections available when logged into Copilot. (Those data protections currently aren't available for UO students.) Workaround: Use the Edge browser, log in with your UO account, and use Copilot there.

Lingering network degradations in areas serving the UO community have been resolved as of 11am on Thursday, August 8.

The degradations were due to power testing conducted Wednesday, August 7. For more information about the power testing, see the CPFM website for the testing schedule and other details. This work was also announced in Oregon News.

Partially Unavailable

The following locations are experiencing lingering network degradations due to today's power testing. Information Services staff are engaged in restoration efforts.

  • Parts of buildings:
    • Carson Hall
    • Earl Hall
    • Erb Memorial Union
    • Justice Bean Hall
    • Knight Campus
    • Knight Library

The UO's Eugene campus community should expect network disruptions on Wednesday, August 7, during annual power testing by Campus Planning and Facilities Management (CPFM).

  • Expect: Intermittent campuswide network outages. Network services will typically resume shortly after power has been restored.
  • Possible: Localized lingering network outages may occur if network devices fail. If so, Information Services staff will post notices here, on the IT Service Status website. Recovery from any such device failures will begin after CPFM has completed all testing, and could take a day or longer.

Please see the CPFM website for the testing schedule and other details. This work was also announced in Oregon News.
