Comment: In the early morning hours of Friday, August 25, from midnight until 7am, Webmail may be affected multiple times during work on the campus network as part of a large-scale network redesign and upgrade project. Email messages sent within campus will not be affected. Only email messages sent to and from campus may be delayed. In the best case, no interruptions will occur. In the worst case, the university will experience three interruptions of up to one hour each during this work period.

Around 1:25pm, staff reverted that portion of the maintenance and mail began flowing again. Specifically, this was reported for messages sent from IMAP users to other IMAP users during a period of one to two hours in the middle of the day today. Affected users are reporting that they are now able to send messages again. However, the messages from earlier have not yet been received. Information Services staff are also seeing a significant amount of outgoing email queued for sending. Staff are investigating further.

There are still two other ways to move messages. Start by viewing the inbox or other folder where the message is located. Select the message in that list, then either: 1) drag the message to the desired destination folder, or 2) control-click (Mac) or right-click (Windows) on the message to bring up a context-sensitive menu, select the "move" flyout menu, then select the destination folder.

This issue is expected to last until late Friday or Saturday. The workaround is to ask the sender to use a non-UO email address. We understand this is far from ideal for several reasons. Intended recipients here on campus don't know which messages got returned, and business-related emails cannot always be redirected to non-UO addresses.
